If you haven’t noticed yet, Hedgehog doesn’t believe in calling people users. We believe it’s important to remind everyone that everyone on Hedgehog is a real person. Every person who has an account on Hedgehog has a profile picture, bio, name, and a handle. If you are a member or a contributor on Hedgehog you can edit your profile by selecting your profile picture in the top left corner, then the edit pencil from your profile. You will notice an Edit profile option. You can only periodically edit your profile (to prevent platform abuse) so please be thoughtful when you do it!
Profile Picture
Displayed publicly to the world and is an easy way to identify who you are when in conversation to others. This does not need to be an actual picture of you, although this is always a nice thing to do!
Display Name
Your display name is a non-unique name which is used to identify who you or your online persona is. Emojis and other fun things can be placed in here. Please be thoughtful, this will be the first impression everyone has of you.
Handle
Your handle is what other places often call a “username”. It’s a unique identifier for your profile. Nobody else on Hedgehog can share your handle. High-value handles are hard to come by!
Bio
A bio is a short introduction of yourself to the world. Explain who you are, a unique talent (like juggling while on a unicycle), or simply that you are Hedgehog’s biggest fan of cats. We like sharing lighthearted things here to make the community feel more human.
